Hello,
We are glad to release the first beta version of HighDesign 1.7 Universal Binary. There are many new features in this version, and a number of important improvements.
The Walls tool has been redesigned to solve some long-standing issues and provide new features like multiple node intersections.
Doors and windows have been enhanced with the addition of four new types (pocket, double pocket, folding, double folding) and the introduction of the parametric sill. Doors and windows can now be stored as customizable presets.
The package includes a ReadMe file that lists the known issues we are working on.

HighDesign 1.7fc8 release Notes

[CHG] HighDesign is now a Universal Binary.

[IMP] The Offset command now can be applied to a line twice in the same run.

[FIX] The shortcut for the Measure tool did not work.

[FIX] Construction lines: the distance from the reference line reported in the yellow box did not match the value reported in the L box on the main window.

[FIX] Creating text objects by pasting text from the clipboard now works again.

[FIX] When the input box of the Text tool is active, Select All selects the text instead of the other objects.

[NEW] Doors & Windows properties: added a customizable Sill property.

[NEW] Doors & Windows: It is now possible to save and organize your own types. Settings in the Doors & Windows panel can be saved as a preset.

[NEW] Line types can be disabled in the Drawing Manager. Disabled line types do not get listed in pop-up menus.

[NEW] Doors & Windows: added Pocket, Double Pocket, Folding and Double-Folding door types.

[IMP] Drawing Manager: the Layers table can be sorted by clicking the header. Items can be sorted by index, scope, name, visibility, lock and color.

[CHG] Changing object properties like layer, line type, color, pen and fill now updates the default values only if the "Always update defaults" preference is active.

[IMP] JPEG Export dialog: added the Smoothing factor property of Jpeg images.

[CHG] Keyboard shortcuts to the drawing tools can be used to cycle between methods: pushing again the same key no longer reverts to the previous tool, but activates the next method of the current tool.

[IMP] The Tab key no longer requires an extra press before activating the X input.

[FIX] Drawing constraint buttons like angle, parallel, perpendicular and tangent now work properly with the Arrow tool.

[IMP] The drawing constraint buttons are now properly disabled when they cannot be used.

[IMP] Pushing the space bar to activate the panning tool is more responsive.

[FIX] Editing some objects by their midpoint, like lines or walls, did not show the ghost image of the edited object.

[IMP] Polygons and hatches now provide the same interface for adding and deleting vertices.

[IMP] Redesigned the Walls tool to provide more features and reliability. The new features include multiple node connections and editing commands.

[CHG] Wall properties: the fill color is no longer limited to the range of indexed colors. The button now opens the standard color picker.

[FIX] Changing the color in the Properties toolbar now updates the Wall tool defaults.

[IMP] "Print" penweights are now more accurate.

[NEW] Added a new preference option to set the end caps of thick lines.

Thanks for your help with testing the HighDesign betas.
HighDesign 1.7fc8 Universal Binary Now Available!
An additional note regarding a known issue that isn't in the ReadMe file:
if you used previous versions of HighDesign 1.7, when you launch HighDesign 1.7fc8 the Line Types popup menu opens blank. You have to go to the Drawing Manager > Linetypes pane and activate the types you wish to be listed in the menus.
Sorry about this inconvenience. We hope you like this release!

the speed is great! and being able to choose which linetypes you use on the list is good too...
however, i am having trouble trying to edit text... i cannot change what was typed previously after selecting the text box. what's going on?
[ed]: this is getting rather annoying, please fix this as i currently can't edit any text and have to write a new bit of text everytime.
tbanks

To edit text,
select the text box with the arrow "a",
then enter text edit mode with "t",
then click in the text, highlight, edit, then click outside the text box
then "a" again to return to arrow and click outside the text bo again to deselect the text box
I don't see the same problem in the "bind tools" selection. Which list is all wrong? The tools, or the layers themselves?
I agree with you that the "home tool" once selected seems to stick permanently.

the bind tools... have you tried? try binding say... the text tool, it will show the fill/hatch icon instead even though it says text, and you will notice it is hatch that has been binded, not text
