New Features
- HighDesign is now a Universal Binary.
- The new Object Info palette provides numerical editing and geometric information of the selected object.
- Added a new Construction Lines method to the Point tool, now renamed Construction Objects tool. Construction lines are infinite dashed lines used for reference and construction.
- Added a new Measure Tool to measure linear distances on the current project. The Measure tool has two methods, line and path. Measures are temporary, that is, they are not saved into the document. The single line measure can be used to resize the drawing via the Object Info palette.
- Redesigned the Walls tool to provide more features and reliability. The new features include multiple node connections, automatic update and more editing commands.
- Wall tool: existing walls now highlight their leading side when the cursor is over them.
- Walls: it is now possible to connect three walls to create a "+" intersection.
- Hatches inside walls and windows now have absolute origin: this allows smooth intersections with no breaks in the hatch pattern.
- The contextual menu now includes items to change the leading side of walls.
- Move, Duplicate: walls now create the connections to other walls when appropriate.
- Doors & Windows: added Pocket, Double Pocket, Folding and Double-Folding door types.
- Doors & Windows properties: added a customizable Sill property.
- Doors & Windows: It is now possible to save and organize your own types. Settings in the Doors & Windows panel can be saved as a preset.
- Added a new Edit Symbol tool to modify a view of an existing symbol. Changes made to the symbol are immediately visible on all its instances. The Edit Symbol command is available under the Tools menu or in the contextual menu.
- Mirror and Mirror a Copy support symbols.
- Views now store visible layers.
- Print Preview: added a Views popup menu to switch between saved views. This, combined with the ability of a view to store the visibility of sheets and layers, allows the use of "print sets".
- Added an Update View button in the Views palette.
- Line types can be disabled in the Drawing Manager. Disabled line types do not get listed in pop-up menus.
- Rectangles and Rotated Rectangles can now be created with defined dimensions by pushing the W and H keys during construction.
- DXF Import: added support for SPLINE entities.
- DXF Import: Added support for PaperSpace. In HD Pro, ModelSpace and PaperSpace are placed on different sheets.
- DXF Import: imported drawings are now placed at the center of the drawing area. Previously, some drawings could end up being placed at the far right-bottom end.
- DXF Import: improved support for files created by Autodesk Architectural Desktop.
- DXF Import: blocks are now automatically converted to groups.
- DXF Import: improved the interpretation of multiline texts in Rich Text (RTF) format.
- DXF: added support for RAY and XLINE entities.
- Trim can now be applied to circular arcs and circles.
- The Trim tool can now use rectangles, polygons, hatches, curves, circles, ellipses and walls as cutters.
- During the construction of a Hatch or a Polyline, a "delete" icon is displayed next to the last vertex. Clicking it removes that vertex from the shape.
- The Spotlight plugin is now universal.
- Arrows on circular arcs are aligned correctly with the arc.
- Groups can now be resized with the Arrow tool.
- Groups can be edited numerically via the Object Info palette.
- Added Undo/Redo support for Ungroup All
- The Explode command supports groups.
- Improved the Delete Duplicates tool.
- Snap to intersections works better with many types of objects.
- Angles entered as degrees and minutes are now always interpreted with the maximum precision.
- It is now possible to resize a line or a wall along its angle by holding down the Shift key while editing one endpoint.
- The Dimensions Options panel now remembers which pane was last selected.
- Added a new preference to disable autoscrolling.
- Preferences: minor improvements to the interface.
- Added a new preference option to set the end caps of thick lines.
- Polygons and hatches now provide the same interface for adding and deleting vertices.
- JPEG Export dialog: added the Smoothing factor property of Jpeg images.
- Drawing Manager: the Layers table now shows the number of items on that layer.
- Drawing Manager: the Layers table can be sorted by clicking the header. Items can be sorted by index, scope, name, visibility, lock and color.
- The Drawing Manager window now remembers the last selected pane.
- Pasting objects from the clipboard now deselects all before adding the objects.
Changes and Optimizations
- Faster refresh when panning and scrolling with antialias on.
- Text redrawing is about 20% faster.
- Activating an edit tool now dismisses the previous button.
- The Trial time has been extended to 16 hours of actual use and does not include idle times.
- In case of internal error, the Send Report button now automatically sends an anonymous report instead of opening the Send Report window.
- Group handling is now faster and more memory efficient.
- Print Area: the preset page sizes now include the current margins.
- Print Areas: now work properly regardless of the construction order.
- Hatch tool: the double click used to close the shape now must be a true double-click, that is, two quick clicks on the same spot and within half a second. This prevents unwanted termination of shapes when clicking two vertices very close to each other. Previously there was no time frame for the double click.
- Bezier curve redrawing is about 27% faster.
- Autoscrolling only starts when the main window is active.
- The "Print" penweight mode now scales pen weights when the zoom is below 100%.
- Faster arc redrawing.
- Borders of fills and hatches are now more accurate and faster.
- Groups can be moved by clicking the central point with the Arrow tool.
- The Auto-grouping option is now saved into the preferences.
- Actions like select, deselect, zoom, delete, etc. and are now faster.
- Images can be moved by the central point.
- Resizing the selection via the Scale/Resize dialog now applies to the width of walls when the scaling factor is proportional.
- Print areas are now displayed always on top of the other drawing objects.
- Interface strings load about 30% faster.
- "Print" penweights are now more accurate.
- Wall properties: the fill color is no longer limited to the range of indexed colors. The button now opens the standard color picker.
- Pushing the space bar to activate the panning tool is more responsive.
- The drawing constraint buttons are now properly disabled when they cannot be used.
- Keyboard shortcuts to the drawing tools can be used to cycle between methods: pushing again the same key no longer reverts to the previous tool, but activates the next method of the current tool.
- Changing object properties like layer, line type, color, pen and fill now updates the default values only if the "Always update defaults" preference is active.
- The Offset command now can be applied to a line twice in the same run.
Fixes
- Files from the Temporary Folder are not added to the Recent Items stack.
- Selected walls no longer update the start and end marker icons on the Properties bar. Also, editing those attributes does not apply to walls.
- Editing the endpoint of a wall could produce an incorrect result if the snap was on the edited wall itself.
- Changing the fill properties of hatches and rectangles now enables the Save command.
- Window casings no longer display hatches and fills during a pan or a scroll.
- Windows: Hatched casings of masonry type did not display correctly with settings where one of the dimensions was zero.
- DXF Export: linear and aligned dimensions are exported correctly.
- DXF Import: ELLIPSE entities are now interpreted correctly.
- DXF Export: some horizontal dimensions were incorrectly exported as aligned.
- Snap to Intersections works again with orthogonal lines.
- Extend and Join work correctly with aligned walls.
- Deleting a wall no longer breaks the intersections on its connected walls.
- Menus: the Quick Reference should no longer occasionally open when using the Undo command.
- Create Image: the line style menu now opens correctly.
- Linear dimensions in decimal feet and inches could display X' 12'' instead of (X+1)' .
- Exploded rectangles placed the fill in front of the border lines.
- Undoing a "Delete" action on a wall now rebuilds the previous intersections.
- Pop-up menus on the Properties bar now scroll correctly (broken in 1.7b1).
- Quick reference: the search box now gives the focus back to the main window.
- Windows, palettes and menus now work better on multiple screens.
- Undo Delete now honors the stack order of objects.
- Fixed an occasional internal error in the Linear Dimensions tool.
- DXF Export: dashed lines are exported correctly.
- Fixed an internal error in the Vector PICT export.
- Set Attributes no longer forgets the end marker type.
- The Change Length tool now displays the updated length in the current units.
- The Fill pop-up menu on the Properties bar now applies the changes to all the selected rectangles and fills.

- Transfer to Sheet did not work correctly with symbols.
- Groups could not be deselected with Shift-click.
- Overwriting a file could sometimes cause a delay and excessive memory consumption.
- Saving a file no longer leaves occasional temporary files.
- Create Image could crash under certain conditions.
- Export to PDF could fail if a sheet had a page size that was later removed.
- Bezier curves display and print correctly with bitmap pen-weights.
- DXF Export: bezier curves now retain their initial segment.
- Some localized buttons in Drawing Manager were truncated.
- Bounds of linear dimensions now correctly include the text label. This affected mostly exported PDF documents.
- Image resizing and stretching could not be undone.
- Reordering a sheet in the Sheets palette did not work properly when the sheet was moved on top of an invisible sheet.
- Redoing a print area did not restore the name.
- Undoing a print area now removes it from the list of available print areas.
- Reordering linetypes did not work properly.
- Fixed some internal errors.
- Activating a different editing tool while another is in use now cancels the current action.
- Views now save current sheet and layer.
- Annotations no longer wrap the text when changing zoom factor.
- Overlapped walls no longer try to create intersections.
- Fixed internal errors in the Doors and Windows tool and the Object Info palette.
- Icelandic characters are displayed correctly.
- Dimension Properties: The Custom Text field no longer wraps the text on multiple lines.
- Changing the color in the Properties toolbar now updates the Wall tool defaults.
- Editing some objects by their midpoint, like lines or walls, did not show the ghost image of the edited object.
- Drawing constraint buttons like angle, parallel, perpendicular and tangent now work properly with the Arrow tool.
- The Tab key no longer requires an extra press before activating the X input.
- When the input box of the Text tool is active, Select All selects the text instead of the other objects.
- Creating text objects by pasting text from the clipboard now works again.
- Construction lines: the distance from the reference line reported in the yellow box did not match the value reported in the L box on the main window.
