Trim polygones

Post by marr »

How come polygones can't be trimmed, like polylines in Autocad?

I can't answer the 'how come' part, but I know that
1) you can use polylines to trim other objects
2) to trim parts of a polyline you need to explode it.

What I do most often is choose Polygon from the Drawing Tools and then in the methods bar (TOP) I choose polyline instead of polygon.

Hope this helps.

Silly me, I didn't know I could choose polyline, I thought polygon was just a different name for the same thing.
Thanks

No problem. But do keep in mind that a polyline in HD is not the same as in AC insofar as when the lines are drawn they are not joined at their vertices.

Trimming don´t seem to working perfect though. It does not seem to be possible to trim a line between 2 lines.

Properly in the autocad sense you mean? That is not how the command works in HD. If you want to cut a line between two lines you can do it by using the BREAK command - the shortcut by default is apple+B.

Here is a trick that you might find useful... I use EXTEND ALOT!!! (apple+E) It is great because you can select many lines and when you extend them to a line they extend to it regardless of which side they are on - meaning that it is like an extend and trim command all in one.
