HD features

Post by steven »

I come from the Autocad world and wonder if the following features are available on HD;
1. Is there a way to make a polyline?
2. Is there a feature like Autocad 'paintbrush'?
3. Is there a way to scale a object or symbol within a sheet?

You can make polygons and polylines with straight segments. Mixed lines and splines aren't available.
2. Is there a feature like Autocad 'paintbrush'?
I suppose you are referring to the ability of pasting properties between objects. If that's the case, then yes, you can Option-Click an object to copy its properties and Command-Option-Click to paste those properties to another object. They are equivalent to the Copy Attributes and Set Attributes items of the Edit menu.
3. Is there a way to scale a object or symbol within a sheet?
Yes. Generic drawing items can be scaled through the Scale/Resize dialog (Tools > Scale/Resize Drawing). Symbols can also be resized via the Symbol Library panel: Select it, double-click the Symbol Library icon and enter the new dimensions.

HighDesign does not provide a "Stretch" command (yet), that is a command used to move some objects and stretch any other connected objects. An example would be moving the side of a polygon producing a deformation of the shape.

You can stretch single lines and walls and resize symbols both proportionally and non-proportionally.

This is the procedure to stretch a line or a wall:
  • 1. Select the line. To select you can use the Arrow tool, shift-click or right-click the item.
    2. Activate the Line tool, or the Wall tool to stretch a wall. Please bear in mind that you must also set the appropriate method: if the Wall tool is currently set to "Doors and Windows", you have to set the "Wall" method.
    3. Click one endpoint of the object.
    4. Move the pointer. Push L, A, X, Y if you want to constrain length, angle and relative coordinates. Click when you're done.
