I'm having trouble finding how to bring up the grid with the 0,0 showing. When I started a drawing it was at something like 3428,1670. Is there a default to go back to 0,0.

I'm not sure if the origin (0,0) stays the same from project to project. I bet the current setting is held in your preference list...
Regardless, to reset the origin (and therefore define 0,0) use the point icon on the left and select the larger point symbol that responds to the drawing origin. And place it wherever you need. You should be able to find it too with a Zoom Extents if you don't want to relocate it.
