Hi,

Is anyone know how well or how wrong Autocad is reading DXF or DWG exported from High Design?

I have no problems and I work with autocad people all the time. Likewise there's no problem importing DWG or DXF into HD. Are you having problems?

In fact I want to know if Autocad read well DWG or DXF produced within HD.

Just want to check how I should send those drawings.

It doesn't make a difference to me what I send the drawing as. I usually send drawings to PC people in DWG format.
I also send all drawings in PDF format along with the DWG or DXF format.

see what the difference in file size is for taking a HD drawing and "saving as a PDF" and exporting "as a PDF".

Hi,

Do you send it at scale 1:1 or any scale down 1/4"=1'-0" for instance. They need to re-work the DWG or DXF in Autocad.

I have only exported drawings for AutoCAD a few times, but have imported on many occasions. My experience is that the text is always messed up. This may have to do with the scale i am importing them in at or something, but i have tried several things and text always seems to come in with no size. So there will be a text box, it will contain text, but i have to go through and change the size of the text in order to be able to se any thing.

Linetypes other than continuous do not seem to translate well either.

Other than those two items, i have not had any issues.

I experienced the same, but in my tests the results vary and depend largely on the version of DWG being imported and the application that saved the file. Also, DWG files tend to produce more consistent results, and DXFs differ a lot because there are many more applications that can export in that format.
The good news is that the issue has been addressed and solved!

Exporting via DXF is more reliable than dwg in my experience.

I think mostly due to my experiencing importing, i have only ever exported line work for use in AutoCAD. Never really tried to deal with text.

I have never had any issues with either DWG or DXF for line work exports. Again, line types do not seem to translate well, but otherwise no issues.
