Symbol Repository

Post by macitect »

EDIT: I would imagine that a repository for Symbols and Hatches (separate thread) would benefit all HD users, so I'll kick things off. (Some might remember that I promised to get a site up a while ago, but alas I've not had the kind of time that would allow me to learn about databases on the net...)

I propose that the symbols we share adhere to the following 2 conditions;

1. All elements within the symbol be on the HighDesign layer. Think of it as the Layer0. I would imagine that we all have our own layer sets, so this will keep it clean and not add a bunch of foreign layers to our drawings - it only requires that we keep one of the default layers.

2. Symbols - particularly in PLAN view, but it may be a good idea in other views too - contain a solid white fill so that they can be placed over floor hatches etc.

So to get us started -

* clothes washer
* clothes dryer
* bicycle
1/4" scale? The symbols can be used at any scale - unless you mean something with a little more detail...
I normally just draw squares of the appropriate sizes, but here are a couple symbols that I made a while back that I don't use much:

Grand Piano - white or black (if I remember correctly the dimensions are that of a "baby grand" - I'll check on that and post back later).

We need to figure out how to create some server space for these symbols... totally on board with the idea though!

Thanks Derek for the .zip tip... look for an email on a server idea.
