stretching

Post by jmartinarch »

Okay, I need to know the secret or trick to stretching walls with dimensions.
When I select a wall, the dimension and try to stretch, the dim. moves to opposite side of wall.
And, hatching...it there really not a concrete hatch? (dots, triangles, circles) What are you seasoned
HD veterans using to hatch say a detail of a foundation wall? I guess you can call a pattern whatever you
want it to represent, but for sake of industry standards it would be nice to see a conc. hatch.
But I got off subject, sorry.

Unfortunately stretching has always been problematic for me. I rarely use that command and especially not with walls and dimensions. I find it generally easier to just drag the end points than try to use the stretch command.

As to the question of hatches. The most notably missing are as you mentioned concrete, as well as a plain stipple, gravel, and an earth hatch.

Some people have created symbols that can be tiled for some of these, but i tend to find these solutions less than satisfactory as well. As such i have created a stipple hatch using a series of dotted lines at various angles. It is by no means perfect, but it is workable. For concrete i manually add triangles over the stipple hatch. As for an earth hatch, i created one as described here:

It works pretty well as long as you do not explode it.
