Putting openings / breaks in walls

Post by Roy »

Can I break a wall with 1.8.5? I am doing floor plans for a remodel job and it would be nice to put breaks I.e. openings in walls. Only way i have found is to erase the wall and then draw in walls of the correct length.

TIA

Roy

Hi Roy!
hope I got what you meant, try using the first window/door preset and unchecking other details

cheers,
Alessandro

Alessandro,
I could not get this function to work. By first window/door preset do you mean the one says "presets" On my machine the first active window/door preset is a bi-folding door.

Roy,
sorry I used the wrong word... I mean the first item in the "Type" menu, not the "Preset". Take a look at the shot to see if that's what you want:

EDIT: I just realized that the forum doesn't show the whole screenshot, you can see it here:

Allesandro, what program did you use to draw in your screen shot? I really miss the old mac draw program!

In this case I used Pixelmator (was already open) but I think any image editing or painting app with a tablet would do...

Thanks, Photoshop Elements bit the dust when I upgraded to Snow Leopard, so I'm on the hunt for a replacement. Sorry for the thread hijack - back to breaks in walls!

For something as simple as marking up a screenshot, you can't beat Skitch - free at the moment from skitch.com - watch the video - its hilarious! I use it everyday for marking up and emailing pdfs to clients and consultants.
