set insertion ref point on a symbol?

Post by kohledfusion »

folks, I've created symbols, but the insertion point is always dead center. Is there a way to save the symbol with a different insertion reference point, say the lower left corner?

gratzi!

When you're in the Symbols dialog box and have selected a symbol from the list, you can then establish the insert point for all symbols used in that session (until restart of HD).

Just move your cursor to the edge or corner of the symbol image and the the pointer will change to a cross. Then you can click and change the insertion point.

I don't believe this default is saved after you close HD and reopen the file... probably should be though.

I would like to add this to the wish list: the ability to choose (and change) the insertion point of symbols.

It would be really useful to choose a point on one of the elements that make up the symbol rather than just centre or one of 4 corner points.

Isn't this a part of another CAD routine... identify the Insertion point upon definition of a Bloc..., I mean Symbol?
