HighDesign 1.7fc5 Available

HighDesign 1.7 Final Candidate 5 is now available for download and testing.

"Final Candidate" is the development stage preceding the final, official release. As such, this may be the last chance to report any issues you noticed during the beta stage.

We would appreciate any comments and feedback on the new features. If you find any glitches or issues, please report them as soon as possible.

Important: HighDesign 1.7fc2 introduced some internal changes in groups that make the file format partially incompatible with earlier versions. Specifically, HighDesign 1.7b4 and earlier will ignore all groups in files saved in 1.7fc2 and newer.

HighDesign 1.7fc5 Release Notes
<ul type="disc"><li>[IMP] Views now store visible layers.
<li>[NEW] Print Preview: added a Views popup menu to switch between saved views. This, combined with the ability of a view to store the visibility of sheets and layers, allows the use of "print sets" to hide and show layers and sheets on the fly directly from the Print Preview window.
<li>[IMP] Added an Update View button in the Views palette.
<li>[FIX] Bezier curves display and print correctly with bitmap pen-weights.
<li>[FIX] DXF Export: bezier curves now retain their initial segment.
<li>[FIX] Some localized buttons in Drawing Manager were truncated.
<li>[FIX] Bounds of linear dimensions now correctly include the text label. This affected mostly exported PDF documents.</ul>

Layer control via the Views is very nice... I'm going to have to really think about using this because in effect the view box now serves as a image object control box, equal to sheets and layer controls.

Is the floating layer control box close to release too? I see one master window, where views, layers, sheets are all visible and controlable at once...

There is a problem to import a DXF file.

Thanks for the report. The problem is with the SPLINE-bezier conversion from DXF, a new feature in 1.7. The fix will be in the final version.

do we know when v1.7 official will be coming out? or are we still waiting for the next FC?

There will be a new FC soon as there are some cool new features we would like you to preview. We are pleased of the feedback we received with this experiment of semi-public beta testing and will most likely continue in the future.

The next FC will be PPC, as the UB is under internal testing at this time.

Will v1.7 be UB? In my opinion, HD becoming UB is the most is the most important feature.
