HighDesign 2017.1 BETA

Post by Andrew » Thu Dec 29, 2016 4:17 pm

HighDesign 2017.1 Beta 4 is available for download. Install this version only if you experienced troubles loading DWG files and using associative dimensions. Caution: this is beta software and as such may contain bugs. We strongly recommend you always backup your projects when working with beta software.

Sorry to say that this still doesn't work for me - dwg and dxf files are greyed out and not selectable from either the import or open menu. Dropping the file onto the program icon just opens a blank sheet.

Same here too, DWGs are greyed out.

I have discovered another strange issue related to importing DWG files. I created a test DWG document from HD and called it "TEST.DWG". I searched for that file in the open dialogue box in HighDesgin 2017.1 BETA 4 (Including "Name matches: Test") and HD couldn't find it.

Spotlight search found it both from the menu bar and in the finder. I also used another app that can read DWGs and did the same thing there, typed "Test.dwg" into the search field and it found it instantly.

If I search for ".dwg" in the open dialogue box in HighDesgin 2017.1 BETA 4, it does find some DWGs but far from all of them. And the ones it does finds are NOT greyed out and can be imported from the import dialogue box.

There's definitely an issue with what HighDesgin 2017.1 thinks is a ".dwg" file. It can't even find my ".dwg" files created by HighDesgin 2017.1 BETA 4 within the import or open dialogue box.

I even forced spotlight to reindex the folder within which it's saved, but HD still can't find it via search within the open box.

Thanks for the feedback! We are still unable to reproduce the problem on our machines, but the added details were helpful to build a new beta. Please download HighDesign 2017.1b6 and test the Import feature.

An improvement - dropping a dwg or a dxf onto either the dock icon or a blank sheet will open the import dialogue and open the file.

Unfortunately, the 'Import' dialogue box still has the same greyed files issue.

In addition, the vegetation layer of these survey files is not rendering, although listed in Layers, and this is the same in HD2016.

No change from Beta 4 for me.

Exactly the same issues, the same DWGs are found by spotlight search in the import dialogue box, and vice versa.

When not using search the DWGs that can be found by spotlight are not greyed out, all others are -- even ones created by HD.

When searching via spotlight in the import dialogue box, if you type "DWG" in the search field, I get a popup with:

Kind : DWG Document
Kind : DWG

If I select "DWG Document" nothing is found, not a single file.
If I select "DWG" SOME of my DWG files are found, but most are not.

Thanks for the replies. HighDesign defines dwg files as "DWG", so the "DWG Document" type is probably defined by another software.

There is a new beta: HighDesign 2017.1b7
Please test both the File > Open and File > Import commands, as they both now allow to open .dwg and .dxf files.

Tested with both .dwg and .dxf files, Sharing & Permissions are set to Read & Write;

File > Open - files greyed out and not selectable

File > Import - files selectable and open!

Drag and drop files onto new sheet - works ok

Drag and drop files onto dock icon - works ok

Update - File > Insert Image works ok.

Thank you, that is very helpful! There is a new beta that (hopefully) addresses the problem with File > Open.

I've briefly tested Beta 8 and it appears to have fixed the greyed out DWG issue for me.
