Re: Drawing straight lines
You can click the start point of the line, then type "A" for angle and then input the desired angle at which to constrain the line to ("0" or "180" for horizontal; "90" or "270" for vertical)

Re: HD 1.8.5 Manual
I just downloaded it and the file opened and there was a file on my desktop. Is it possible your browser is saving the file to a different location? Maybe you could try a finder search for "HighDesign1.8.1_User_Manual.pdf" as that is the file name that showed up on my desktop. I hope this ...

line weight for hatches
Is there a way to control the line weight of hatches. They seem to always come out hairline. This presents a problem for me as my local printing shop does not seem to handle hairline from my PDFs that i take to them. While the hatch is present on the printed sheet, it is so light it might as well no...

cannot draw on a sheet
I just experienced a strange occurrence while modifying an old file for a client: the file and/or HD would not let me draw on one of the sheets. When i opened the file, i created a new layer and drew a rectangle. No problem. Then i changed the layer to an existing layer and tried to draw a line to n...

Re: Section + Elevation workflow
I am not exactly sure what you are asking, but i will do my best to answer. If i need to move everything on a sheet, i use the select all (command-A) to select everything on the current sheet and move it. Alternatively, you could group everything on the sheet to move it and then ungroup it for editi...

Re: PDF output
I have had trouble getting prints from commercial printers as well. But my problem is related to lineweights, not fonts. The prints come out extremely light to the point where some of the lines are not visible at all. The local printer i use has gotten around this problem by printing directly from A...

Re: Section + Elevation workflow
I was in a similar situation when i "switched" to HD. Coming from AutoCAD, i would tend to try and make HD work the same way, but the more i use HD, the more i like the way it works. Anyhow, i am sure there are multiple solutions to your quandary, but being relatively inexperienced with HD...
Re: command-Q
Command-Q is the standard Quit menu shortcut, and it is not supposed to change because, well, it's the standard as per the Mac OS UI guidelines. Your shortcuts list may be somehow damaged. To reset the shortcuts to their defaults, you would have to move the plist file to the Trash manually. Locate ...

Re: relative coordinates
Look at your Help menu/quick reference/drawing/set the start point at a fixed distance... I use the L thing a lot for technical drawing although sometimes it is easier to draw construction lines. Well take a look ! Not exactly what i am looking for, but i can certainly see the usefulness of it for ...

Re: relative coordinates
matthew, is there a reason you wouldn't simply duplicate the wall the desired distance away? otherwise - it adds a step - but you could pull a construction line. cheers, derek In the example i gave, i guess not other than that the new wall might have different attributes such as width, length etc.....

relative coordinates
I am searching for an easier way to draw, eg a wall, with a start point relative to another point. I can do this by placing the cursor over a point hitting "X" and then adding the distance away from that point to the absolute position of that point and then typing that number in. For insta...
Re: command-Q
I think your shortcut has been changed ! For me, in the standard edition of HD, command-Q do quit the application and "print preview" is assigned ctrl-command-P... However, you can change your shortcuts in the pro version of HD (in the preferences panel I guess). Hope it helps.... You are...
command-Q
This is a somewhat minor issue, but i would like command-Q to quit HD just like it does all the other programs on my Mac. I do not know how many times i have absent mindedly hit command-Q to quit only to have the print preview come up. Could print preview be assigned another short cut so command-Q c...
