I have developed a series of Symbol grids that I insert and print... sometimes they're useful as overlays for curved shapes for millwork and carpenters to template.

I recollect this is an old wishlist item too.

I think you're right about a Text Style function since I also see a Paragraph symbol... So maybe a Text Style attached to a Leader routine separate from the Dimension styles?

Isn't this a part of another CAD routine... identify the Insertion point upon definition of a Bloc..., I mean Symbol?

The default layers (with colors, etc) are a function of the Drawing Manager. In that you can select the default set for each new drawing and you don't necessarily need to use Merge.

Are you positive your Print Area is not bigger than an A4 margin for your print?

Did you try to push the page to one in the Print Preview? Sometimes it reduces the drawing by some rediculous amount like 99.8%...

I've noticed that Locked Layers still have some artifacts or visibility to actions like snaps. This has happened to me actually when I don't want them... like tracing a Fill outline and a snap keeps jumping to what seems to be some far off point... and it seems to be a higher object on a locked laye...
