Re: importing tables help requd
This may be a stupid question, but what are you importing tables for? I have heard of creating schedules in a spreadsheet program, but never really saw the advantage of that. Especially given this conversation, it seems like it would be simpler just to create the table / schedule right in HD. That i...

Re: Bonzai v SketchUP
It took me quite a bit longer to get around to modeling the home in bonzai than i thought it would. My experience was less than satisfactory. I found it very difficult, for some reason, to make "well formed" objects. As such, the tools did not work as expected on objects until i took the t...

Re: symbols with entry fields...
I would second this. Though i have been able to use groups (for things such as keyed notes, door tags, window tags, etc..) in much the same way as i would forsee using symbols if they had entry fields. I think symbols would give greater flexibility as well as have a larger range of uses if done right.

Re: Merging two or more shapes?
I am not aware of any boolean operations available in HD. However, you can explode the two shapes and then trim the intersecting lines to remove the internal lines. The perimeter lines could then be selected and converted to a polygon. However, this would require the hatch to be reapplied to the new...

Re: door opening problem
If i understand what you are asking correctly, i am not sure there is a way to do it by just manipulating the door properties. I would actually stop the thick wall on either side of where you want the door. The "thinner wall" could then be drawn in the gap and the door placed in the thinne...

snap to hatch
Their are rare occasion in which i would like to be able to snap to a hatch. Specifically for a reflected ceiling plan. When using a suspended grid ceiling, it is simple enough to create a hatch with a 2'x2' grid to represent the ceiling. What i would like to be able to do is to have the option to s...

scalable linetypes
I would like to see the ability to have linetypes be scalable. That is, if i set the dash to a certain length, say 8", it will scale with the scale of the drawing and always be that length relative to the scale of the drawing. This would come in particularly handy in creating things such as a b...

Re: Bonzai v SketchUP
I made my decision and purchased bonzai. I received it in the mail yesterday with my registration info. I am hoping to model a home i am currently working on this week as i am just wrapping up the preliminary plans.
I will post my thoughts after i model a building in it.

Pen Weight connected to Color
I know i have brought some of these issues up before, but with the coming of a major upgrade, i thought i would reiterate some items. This really is my biggest hang-up with HighDesign right now: I would really like to see improvements in the way pen weights are connected to colors. Namely that a pen...

Re: Somewhat shameless plug
I appreciate the support in both my post as well as the project. I would love to have a forum such as this to bounce ideas off of as well as get advice on projects as they come up. While i am biased to my own solution, i will admit that there were several very clever solutions as well as some that w...

Bonzai v SketchUP
I am looking to purchase either Bonzai or SketchUP Pro for 3d stuff just to get started out. I have used the free version of SketchUP for several years (since before Google purchased it) and have several frustrations with how it works. I have downloaded the trial version of Bonzai and was initially ...

Somewhat shameless plug
I have been debating with myself wether or not this would be appropriate to post here or not, and have come to the conclusion that it should be ok. I hope no one is offended. If so let me know and i will refrain from doing something like this in the future. Anyhow, i entered a small competition to d...

Re: Displaying sill messes up hatch.
I found my problem. It seems that having the "C" dimension of the casing greater that the "A" dimension causes this idiosyncrasy in the display of the adjacent wall, but only when the sill is displayed. Even though the "C" dimesion is not relevant to nor editable in the...

Displaying sill messes up hatch.
I have come across an issue that has not come up for me before in using HD, but i cannot seem to fix it on this particular file. The problem is that when i display the sill of a window, a triangluar section of the fill of the adjacent wall is removed. When i turn display sill off, the wall fill is d...
