Re: CAD programme comparisons

mathew thanks for taking the time for that informative reply, I myself find HD a really powerful tool and the few autocad users I have spoken to do seem to complain that its not that friendly for architects/building designers. Its reassuring that I appear to be heading in the right direction. I did ...

CAD programme comparisons

I ve been using HD now for just under a year. I had absolutely no CAD experience until then but as a construction professional of some 20 years I wanted to broaden my skills base. After looking at the cost of CAD training courses at local colleges (+£1200) I decided to have a go at a bit of self tra...

Re: saving items as symbols

I was trying to incorporate an existing symbol within the drawing ( A symbol within a symbol if you like). The symbol was the insulation symbol which I think i downloaded from one of your posts way back (thanks for that by the way). Once I exploded the symbol it was then happy to save it.

saving items as symbols

Is there a limit on the complexity of drawings that can be saved as symbols. I m trying to do a simple section thro a wall with insulation but every time I try to save it as a symbol it appears as blank in the symbols menu. I don t have any problems with saving very simple objects.
