Binding Layers to Drawing Tools

One of the cool features of the Drawing Manager is the option to bind a layer to a specific drawing tool, so that selecting that tool automatically activates its layer. This allows an effortless organization of the project into layers as you just draw. For example, say you want to add dimensions to ...

We don't usually discuss new features, but would you find useful a tool to modify a view of an existing symbol and automagically update all instances of that symbol in your projects?
If the answer is yes, please write to our feedback address to request any features you would like it to have. Thanks.

You can copy and paste doors and windows from a layer to another with exactly the same procedure you described: select the door/window, copy, deselect, choose the other layer, paste. But there is one condition: you must paste the items at their original location. Doors and windows, differently from ...

Re: working drawings

What is the best way to organize this with the thought that the floor plan might (probably) will need to be changed from time to time. Should it be a layer, sheet, or symbol. I would not use a layer, and definitely not a symbol. A floor plan contains walls, furniture, technologic systems, etc., and...

Steven, In HighDesign Professional, Sheets offer a great opportunity of organizing a project in its component drawings. Think of a sheet as one drawing of your project, be it the first floor plan, the site, or an elevation. Each drawing can then be further organized into layers, which allows you a d...

It indeed appears to be the problem we fixed today, thanks for describing the behavior of that menu. You will see the fix in the next update. The Line Style menu sets the line type that will be used to create the image. The original drawing is not modified in any way, it is just displayed with the e...

Sketch - Aalto
Sketch - Graphite
Sketch - Light Blue
Sketch - Pencil on Gray Paper
There is the "Ink Sketch - Red" theme too, which simulates a thin graphic pen.

We just fixed an issue with the Line Style menu that would prevent it from opening correctly. Could this be the limitation you experienced? The Create Image tool is designed to allow the creation of your own themes, in addition to the built-in ones, with one line style applied to all the items in th...

A good example of how to structure a project using sheets is the "Farnsworth house" project file in the Examples folder of the 1.6.2 update.
Thanks and I agree Printing should be more straight forward.
Where exactly is it not straightforward?

I realize I forgot to mention that Print Areas can be of any size you want, not just of the predefined page sizes. In fact, the pages you see when constructing a Print Area are just suggested , optional sizes. In the same way, you can edit any existing print area and reduce it by 2 or 3 inches, depe...

I read the whole thread and I think there is a bit of confusion about the printing process and Print Areas. Each sheet in HighDesign can display its own page frame, which you set by opening the Sheet Size dialog and selecting the desired page. The page frame you see in the main window when you click...

The text labels of the dimensions are recreated on each refresh, and each time they pick the most recent settings of precision. Usually, scrolling, zooming or updating the screen in any other wa...
