stretching

Okay, I need to know the secret or trick to stretching walls with dimensions. When I select a wall, the dimension and try to stretch, the dim. moves to opposite side of wall. And, hatching...it there really not a concrete hatch? (dots, triangles, circles) What are you seasoned HD veterans using to h...

Re: batch printing

Okay, that will work. A extra step, but I'll get over it. Maybe the next version....

Thank you.

Re: Section + Elevation workflow

So I am still scratching my head about Views. I experimented and I see that is takes a snapshot of a part of a drawing. group of layers, on, off composed on just part of a sheet or page if you will. It seems a useful tool for looking back at something. Comparing notes if you will. But how does one u...

Re: Walls

Yep, it was clear and that is what I was asking for, a 4-way intersection.
I experimented and found mirroring to work. A crossing window and a click in the middle would be nice though.

Thanks for the help.

Re: Drawing straight lines

Reviving this discussion .. .. Now that years have passed and new versions are out, is there a way to set a few fixed angles an ortho mode or polar mode. If we could set 0, 30, 45, 60, 90 then we wouldn't have to hold the shift key. Of course we would need to be able to 'release' those angles for th...

Re: Walls

Okay, I got a little excited. What about cleaning up crossing walls?
I'll let you go back to work after this one.

Thanks,

Re: Walls

Derek,
I owe you a pint! That did it. Even went back to the original walls I was having trouble with and voila!

Thanks much.

Re: Walls

Yes, they seem inconsistent. In some cases they work just fine other no. It seems HD needs some wall trimming tools. As an architect drawing walls and inserting doors and windows is an important part of our drafting. In my case as a newby to HD I think I'm probably not doing something in the right s...

Walls

I am having difficulty getting two walls to clean up correctly. Well, to clean up at all. One wall is a 6" wall and the other is a 4" wall. It is a "T" intersection. I have stretched the 4" wall through the 6" wall, but it doesn't self heal, and I don't know how to trim...

Re: symbols - files

Just as you thought. I had the symbol in a separate "mydrawings" folder. Once I pointed to that folder it showed up again. I tried adding that folder to the library folder but wasn't successful. It is probably good practice to put all my symbols in that particular library folder. It is jus...

Re: symbols - files

Good morning The plot thickens... I opened my test file (the same that the titleblock disappeared) and all geometry is invisible. If i drag over the geometry I see the blue dots, but the actual geometry is not visible. I tried new geometry, placed a rectangle. All seemed okay. Until I zoomed, then i...

symbols - files

Still using my trial version. imported my titleblock ( a dwg file) . Massaged the text a bit. Saved it as a .dsn file. And also dreated a symbol out of it to (.hds) started a new file, picked appropriate sheet. set scale 1:1. inserted the symbol 3422tblock.hds All good. created new sheet, and set sc...

Re: Working Drawings

Derek, thanks for the excellent descriptions. Yes the word 'sheet' doesn't exactly capture its common meaning. And I was under the assumption that a sheet was what would be a printed page (and in some cases it can be). So your use of 'page' helped me see the distinction between the two. I haven't ex...

Re: Working Drawings

Newbie here. I see that this string of posts is 6 years old. Has anything changed with HD that affects workflow and sheet organization? Do I understand correctly that each sheet has its own layers? for example, if on sheet 1, layer "walls" I draw the walls of a bldg, on layer "text-di...
