Trouble opening High design

I use my 1.8.7 copy of High Design infrequently since I retired and no longer need it for my employment. I do, once in a while though, like to fire it up in order to keep in practice and deal with a layout of some kind for the workshop or miscellaneous other uses. I just tried to use it a few days a...

Re: HD 1.8.5 Manual

Thanks Giovanni The 'Save As' method did seem like it was going to work however, It appears that the manual is still the same 1.8.1 version that I already have .... is that correct ? I have always used Safari and have downloaded many times from places like Version Tracker etc. and have never had to ...

HD 1.8.5 Manual

Is the Manual now Web Based ?..... I've downloaded it and it opens but there's no file on my desktop.
If it is web based how do I access it through the Help menu in HD ?

Thanks, Peter

Re: Starting a Drawing

Hi Chuck I have been using an Epson 1270 for the last few years to produce 11 x 17 dwgs and it has performed flawlessly. It was about $600 when new but I believe that there is a similar model to replace this that is around $ 300 or less now. The B size ( 11 x 17 ) dwg does seem to be used quite freq...

Re: opening more drawings.

A bit of a 'clunky' workaround for this is having more than one version of HD, say 1.8.2 and 1.8.3 on your Mac. I think you can then have both versions active at the same time with a different drawing open in each of them. Two monitors would be a great help here. This will allow you to see the items...

Re: Dashed Line

That works ( 50% anyway ) ....... I guess I will just have to shorten this line at the end with a dash to get the line I want.

Thanks Giovanni

Dashed Line

I have tried creating a line ( Drawing Manager > Linetypes ) that is a Dashed line same as No. 25 but starts and ends with a space as opposed to a dash .... I haven't had any success.

Has any one done this or can offer any help with it ........ thanks.

Re: arc length? SOS

Circumference of a circle = πd or ( 3.14159 x the diameter) So if you want to find the included angle of the segment req'd to draw an arc of a certain length then this angle is found by : •Calculate the total circumference of the circle from the known diameter (d) ( or 2x radius ) •Divide the result...

Hidden Lines Start with a Space

I would like to be able to have hidden ( broken ) lines have a space at each where they meet their bounding lines.

As far as I know this has always been a drafting convention as It better defines where the visible and hidden objacts start and end.

Re: arc length? SOS

I'd like to know this too !!!

All I've done before is :
From the known radius, calculate the included angle of the segment of a circle that will contain the required length of arc. Then draw that segment of the circle using the calculated angle.

Re: Styles

That would definitely produce the same result but I wonder why I have only recently noticed experiencing this..... since using styles I think ! I guess that after I have used a style and then selecting the line tool, the properties of the line ( eg dimension line 'ends' ) are retained and exhibited ...

Re: Styles

Hmmmmm .... looks like I might have been jumping to conclusions by associating the 'Line End Thing' with Styles ... it really is a workflow stopper though.

Hopefully this update will solve it ... thanks for addressing this so quickly Andrerw.

Re: Styles

I have been able to create a Linear Chain ("Multiple") Dimension 'style'. Sometimes when creating a 'style' it seems to be working wrong but on going back and checking it's properties I find that I have got one thing not selected correctly for what I want it to do. I am having problems wit...
